I am so excited to get into the fun, the enjoyment, and the pleasure of looking at inspirational images with you. Let us look at the images and see what strikes us. Let us pause in our day, just for a moment, see what beauty there is to engage with.
A quick note to acknowledge that there is a little shadow side to all of this, which I dove into in last week’s post. The flawless interiors we see online are fabricated to look a certain way, which taps into a kind of fantasy we all share. Markers of this fantasy are the absence of people, animals, grocery bags, clutter, computer cords, and other signs of average American life. Now with AI in the mix, each image becomes more unrealistic than the next (see my problem with AI windows in the previous post.)
So when I select images to share that I hope will inspire others, I am doing my best to first of all, avoid AI images. Second of all, these images, although enhanced by talented photographers, are of interiors that are works of art. There may be a sizable budget behind them. There is definitely a lot of talent behind them. But most importantly, remember that these spaces took YEARS to create. I think people don’t appreciate how long it takes to do this work.
So with that in mind, and as I try my hand at slowing down, join me in exploring the following inspirational interiors. (Credits are embedded in the images; accounts can be found on Instagram and Google.)
